Police and private security have recently been posted outside Rochester City School District schools — an arrangement that could be extended pending a decision by school commissioners.

By Nadra Nittle Newly released figures from the Los Angeles Unified School District – one of the nation’s largest – show that roughly 6,000 fewer students registered for kindergarten this school year than in the previous year – a roughly 14% decrease from last year’s number of 42,912 children.
