Did you know that Super Bowl Sunday is known as the largest human trafficking event in the nation? As someone who has been working on both a macro and micro level with sexually exploited youth (CSEC), it has been on my heart to coordinate an awareness event before the Super Bowl occurs.
The Red Sand Project was started as an art movement by Molly Gochman to spread awareness about victims of human trafficking. We will be passing out “red sand toolkits” along with information cards and some other fun goodies to all who stop by the Social Work Courtyard. We encourage you to stop by our table to see how we are using our red sand to spread awareness. (Hint: look in the cracks, where our most vulnerable populations fall through in our society).
Event Details:
When: Thursday, February 4th, 2016
11:00am-1:00pm (Universal Break)
Where: School of Social Work Courtyard
What: To spread awareness about human trafficking on our very own campus
What can you do? Check out #redsandproject on social media, and get ready to spread awareness to all your friends on your own social media on FEBRUARY 4th, 2016.
Please contact Omar Avila (omaravil@usc.edu), any member of CALSWEC or your caucus representative for any questions or comments. We look forward to meeting you in the fight to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
