Gabbie Rodriguez

Gabbie Rodriguez, a native New Yorker, is a straight-A student majoring in early childhood education at City College. She is passionate about education and will be joining Teach for America as a classroom teacher next year. Entering the foster care system at the age of 16 has had a major influence over her life. She participates in different advocacy opportunities and is a board member for At the Table, an organization that provides free individualized tutoring for college bound youth who have experienced foster care.

Although I now live in Harlem, I grew up in Ridgewood, New York, a small, immigrant neighborhood where the adults often left the children to fend for themselves as they ventured into the city for work.
