Ángela Banks

Ángela Banks is the founder of the Soulful Liberation Movement, which launched in 2020 during the global pandemic to transform how we approach healing within the child welfare system. Her work began by challenging the dominant narrative of simply coping with trauma, instead championing holistic healing; mind, body, spirit, finances, and relationships. At the heart of her mission is the belief that healing is not just individual but deeply communal and systemic. Through Soulful Liberation, Banks mobilized therapists, social workers, former foster youth, CASAs, and community leaders nationwide in the pursuit of generational transformation. Banks is the award-winning author of The Black Foster Youth Handbook, a NAACP Image Award-nominated work offering 50+ lessons for youth aging out of foster care. The handbook is rooted in her R.E.A.L. Success Model: Root, Envision, Ascension, and Liberation; a healing-centered framework adopted by classrooms, therapists, and institutions across the country. A certified holistic health coach and graduate of the Legacy Holistic Health Institute, her work blends practical tools with spiritual depth to help people reclaim their identity, power, and purpose. Banks is also a sought-after speaker, wellness educator, and coach who has supported over 30,000 individuals through her talks, resources and programs. She is a proud wife to Michael II and mama to her son, Michael III, and continues to be a beacon of light for healing, advocacy, and transformation.
